Bayer Crop Science achieves zero theft in 6 months with Sensos

Bayer Crop Science faced significant theft in its pharmaceutical supply chain, particularly in Europe and Brazil, with losses reaching around €2 million annually in France and Germany alone. This security challenge, which included the loss of entire trucks and their high-value cargo, posed a critical operational and financial risk. To address this, Bayer partnered with vendor Sensos to implement Sensos smart Labels, leveraging the technology initially adopted for visibility as a proactive security tool.

Sensos implemented its smart Labels on pallets of high-value pharmaceuticals traveling high-risk routes. The solution provided real-time location data and alerts, establishing an early warning system and enabling coordination with law enforcement. This transformed Bayer's approach from relying on easily defeated truck GPS to having traceable individual shipments. As a result, in the six months following implementation, Bayer reported zero thefts, a complete turnaround that also created a powerful deterrent effect.
