Western Union Leverages Localization to Attain 65% Organic Users

Western Union, the 145‑year global money‑transfer company that operates dozens of localized mobile apps, needed a faster, more precise way to measure app visibility and compete with major fintech players. To address this, Western Union adopted Sensor Tower’s App Intelligence to track keyword rankings, downloads and other visibility metrics across markets.

Using Sensor Tower’s App Intelligence data exported into CSVs and an internal dashboard, Western Union ran ASO experiments, optimized metadata and guided localization decisions. The result was an immediate lift in organic installs and revenue — organic users grew to 65% of total installs within a year — and Western Union expanded its use of Sensor Tower across the organization.
