ASO Drives Organic Installs for SEGA

SEGA, the mobile-publishing division behind titles like Sonic Dash and Crazy Taxi, faced rising paid user-acquisition costs and needed to maximize organic installs. To address this, SEGA partnered with Sensor Tower and used Sensor Tower’s App Intelligence (along with Store and Ad Intelligence) to audit ASO best practices and prioritize keyword-driven organic growth.

Sensor Tower guided SEGA’s ongoing ASO program—building evolving keyword banks, using seasonal/trending terms, optimizing titles, descriptions, icons and screenshots, and leveraging backlinks—to improve discoverability. As a result, SEGA saw thousands of additional organic downloads per day, moved Sonic Dash from a ~200s category rank into the top 80 in the U.S. Top Free iPhone Apps, and achieved routine organic lifts of 15–30% for large titles (and 5–15% for smaller ones) using Sensor Tower’s insights.
