Case Study: Tesco validates waste collection efficiency with Sensoneo smart bin monitoring

Tesco, one of Slovakia’s leading retailers, wanted to проверить whether its waste collection schedule for 1100-litre bins was efficient. With waste volumes varying across stores, Tesco needed to know if containers were being collected full or half-empty and whether there was potential to reduce collection frequency and costs. Vendor Sensoneo provided the smart waste monitoring solution.

Sensoneo installed smart sensors in 8 high-capacity bins at Tesco locations in Myjava and Zlate Moravce to monitor fill levels in real time from November 2016 to July 2018. The pilot showed that Tesco’s existing collection frequencies were appropriate and that containers were being collected completely full, confirming no immediate opportunity to reduce pickups.
