Leading Multi Utility Company, a major multi-utility operator serving over 3 million customers and managing waste, energy, water, and environmental services, needed a better way to know exactly when and where to collect waste from bins across its network. The company was looking for reliable fill-level monitoring to support three daily collection shifts, reduce overflowing bins, and improve route planning. Sensoneo provided smart bin monitoring sensors to address this challenge.

Sensoneo implemented 640 smart sensors connected via LoRaWAN, with 340 installed in one municipality and 300 in another, to monitor glass containers and measure fill levels every 4 hours. The solution also included temperature and tilt detection, and the data was integrated into the customer’s existing system. As a result, Leading Multi Utility Company gained reliable remote visibility into bin status, improved collection route control, prevented overflowing bins and street litter, and reduced half-empty pickups while making better use of bin infrastructure.
