Wireless, Solar Powered Site Cameras Provide Flood Control Monitoring

Jefferson County Drainage District No. 6, which manages storm and flood control across more than 1,091 miles of streams, ditches and outfalls in Jefferson County, TX, needed a way to remotely monitor critical sites (Mayhaw and Needmore Structures) and provide 24‑hour security for approaching nautical traffic. With no on‑site power or reliable internet, DD6 selected Sensera Systems and deployed the solar‑powered MC‑68 for general monitoring and the SiteWatch‑PRO for security and vessel detection.

Sensera Systems delivered a turnkey solar/cellular solution — cameras with LiFePO4 batteries (up to 5 days runtime), 100% solar operation, cellular connectivity, cloud‑hosted servers, LiveView, time‑lapse, built‑in DVR, motion detection and night vision — that are portable and simple to install. The implementation enabled real‑time remote monitoring, significantly reduced travel to remote sites, and provided reliable 24‑hour security and vessel capture at Needmore despite fluctuating cell service.
