Connect Plus, the operator of the UK's M25 motorway, faced the challenge of digitally mapping the vast and busy highway network without causing disruptive road closures. They partnered with vendor Sensat to use its drone mapping and data visualization services to create a comprehensive digital model of the road.

Sensat implemented a solution using fixed-wing drones to capture topographic data safely and efficiently, eliminating the need for traffic management. The result was the largest drone mapping endeavour in the UK, covering 120 miles of highway and consisting of over 23 billion data points captured in just 30 days. Sensat's platform aggregated this data to create the first digital twin of the M25, providing a key source of information for all contractors to support planning and decision-making.
