Case Study: GEO-Instruments protects Spokane River Rail Bridge stability with Senceive wireless tilt monitoring

A Senceive Case Study

Preview of the GEO-Instruments Case Study

How wireless tilt sensors played a key role in monitoring the stability of an existing railway bridge during adjacent construction activity

The customer, GEO-Instruments, faced the challenge of monitoring an existing BNSF railway bridge for potential instability and structural impacts during the adjacent construction of a new bridge, which involved disruptive activities like vibratory pile driving. To meet this need, they implemented a comprehensive monitoring program utilizing Senceive’s wireless Nano Triaxial Tiltmeters as a key component of their solution.

The solution deployed by GEO-Instruments integrated Senceive’s wireless tilt sensors with automated displacement and vibration monitoring systems. Data from all sensors, including hourly readings from the Senceive tiltmeters, was fed into the GeoCloud platform for real-time visualization, automated alerts, and reporting. This provided continuous, accurate data on settlement, vibration, and rotation, enabling the team to proactively safeguard the bridge's stability with pre-set alert thresholds throughout the construction project.
