Case Study: TPI preserves Ilza Castle with Senceive structural monitoring

A Senceive Case Study

How Senceive monitoring technology has helped preserve historic Polish castle during construction works

TPI was tasked with preserving the historic Ilza Castle during large-scale restoration works, with a specific challenge of monitoring its 14th-century tower for any abnormal structural movement that could be caused by the construction. To address this, they engaged vendor Senceive to implement a wireless structural monitoring solution using their FlatMesh system, including crack sensors and NanoPlus/IX Triaxial Tilt nodes.

Senceive's solution was installed without damage to the structure in under two hours. The system provided stakeholders with sub-millimetre accurate data and automated alerts via the WebMonitor portal. The data successfully identified both normal thermal movement and a concerning trend of differential movement, triggering alerts when pre-set thresholds were exceeded. The long battery life of Senceive's technology also allows for extended monitoring with minimal maintenance, ensuring the castle's ongoing safety.
