Nuffield College, part of the University of Oxford, faced the challenge of managing a constant flow of contractors through a time-consuming and risk-prone manual process. They required a more efficient and compliant digital system to speed up check-ins, prevent unauthorized access, and support health and safety standards. To address this, they partnered with vendor Semieta for a bespoke contractor management solution.

Semieta implemented a system where each job is assigned a unique PIN for contractor check-in via a tablet. This solution retrieves job details and prompts contractors with custom questions, ensuring proper logging and awareness of responsibilities. The results included faster check-ins, improved compliance, and secure digital records. Semieta later integrated the college’s Asbestos Register, automatically alerting contractors to onsite risks, which further enhanced safety without manual intervention.
