How MDM Vastly Improved Customer Data Management

Sanofi, a global healthcare company with more than 100,000 employees across 170 countries, faced fragmented and duplicative customer data from acquisitions, legacy systems and spreadsheets, along with the need for GDPR compliance, real‑time access in an AWS environment, and standardized governance. To build a Customer 360 and support digital transformation, Sanofi selected Semarchy (Semarchy xDM/xDI) for a simple, rapid‑time‑to‑value master data management solution.

Semarchy implemented a phased MDM rollout—replacing custom feeds with a single Semarchy feed, connecting almost 30 sources, and expanding from five countries in 2018 to five more in 2019 and supporting 100 indirect customers by 2020—while extending domains beyond customer data. Semarchy’s xDM delivered measurable outcomes: lower total cost of ownership and data provisioning, faster time to value, improved data trust and unified customer knowledge (boosting cross‑sell/upsell and KYC), simplified governance, reduced regulatory risk, and greater agility to scale and update global operations.
