Enabling a Trusted 360° view of Customers and Products

Elsevier, the global information and analytics publisher, needed to modernize its ecommerce offering and establish a single trusted source of product and customer data. Faced with disparate sources from acquisitions and legacy systems, inconsistent vocabularies, data quality and governance issues, Elsevier engaged Semarchy to introduce Master Data Management and streamline internal systems for greater speed, flexibility and transparency.

Using Semarchy’s MDM and Data Integration tools, Elsevier implemented an iterative, agile deployment that feeds the ecommerce platform a single, cleansed and normalized product stream. The Semarchy solution delivered an extensible product master, improved data quality and consistency, unified B2B and B2C views, better analytics and real‑time reporting across sales and revenue, and lower data-delivery costs by replacing multiple custom sources—improving customer discovery on the site and enabling stronger insights for renewals, finance and sales.
