A Semarchy Case Study
Elsevier, one of the world’s largest academic and research publishers with over 30,000 book titles and more than 2,500 journals, wanted to improve internal efficiency, boost its ecommerce channels, and future‑proof systems to support growth. To address multiple sources of product data, inconsistent vocabularies and differing update cadences, Elsevier chose Semarchy and its agile MDM approach, using Semarchy Convergence for MDM and Semarchy Convergence for Data Integration.
Semarchy ran a Proof of Value with Elsevier to build a product data model and deliver a single, cleansed, normalized feed into the ecommerce platform. The Semarchy solution enabled Elsevier to reach its first production iteration in only one third of the time required for traditional MDM, reduced integration work and data issues for ecommerce, lowered the cost of delivering product data, and created an extensible product master with improved data quality.
