How Nils and Kaspars made a short film in 30 days

Mind Your Step is a short documentary created by inline skaters Nils and Kaspars, shot in Thailand in just 30 days to showcase action skating and highlight global plastic pollution. Working with a tiny crew, under €5,000 in costs and no large studio backing, the team needed a low-friction way to sell the film, reach an international audience, and fund a charity pledge (10% of sales to WWF). They chose Sellfy to host and sell the movie’s action segment and full documentary directly to fans.

Using Sellfy, Mind Your Step launched the action part (available for one week on their Sellfy store starting April 30) and the full documentary, turning Nils’ 34K social followers into an international audience and monetizing the project without intermediaries. The direct-sales approach supported local promotion (a Riga cinema premiere with ~500 attendees), preserved control of distribution, and enabled the promised 10% WWF donations — demonstrating how Sellfy helped convert a low-budget, fast-turnaround indie film into measurable sales, reach, and charitable impact.
