Tonkin + Taylor, part of the Beca Design JV on New Zealand’s Puhoi to Warkworth motorway project, needed a way to build a reliable project-wide ground model for a complex 18km route through steep terrain and variable geology. Working with Seequent, they used Leapfrog Works to model the subsurface conditions and support geotechnical design, earthworks planning, and alignment comparison.

Seequent’s Leapfrog Works enabled the team to continuously update a dynamic 3D geological model as investigation data came in, including 210 CPTs, 420 boreholes, 355 hand augers, and 220 test pits. The result was more accurate geological surfaces, faster section production, better communication across stakeholders, and less rework by removing the need to redraw models each time new data was added.
