Case Study: KAZ Minerals accelerates geological modelling and reduces risk with Seequent’s Leapfrog Geo

A Seequent Case Study

Preview of the KAZ Minerals Case Study

Leapfrog’s role in revealing and enhancing the value of the Bozshakol deposit

KAZ Minerals, a high-growth copper company, developed the Bozshakol mine in northern Kazakhstan as a large greenfield copper-gold porphyry project with a long mine life and complex geology. The team needed a faster, more flexible way to build and update geological and resource models while reducing risk and supporting production, grade control, and exploration decisions. Seequent’s Leapfrog Geo was used to address these challenges.

Seequent implemented Leapfrog Geo to create the structural, geological, oxidation, alteration, and grade-domain models for Bozshakol, with local training enabling KAZ Minerals to manage and extend the workflow on site. The software cut geological model creation time from an estimated four months to about a week, while making rapid updates possible as new drillholes were added. As a result, Seequent helped KAZ Minerals improve modelling efficiency, enhance deposit visualization, support management reporting, and reduce risk exposure.
