First Quantum Minerals used Seequent’s Leapfrog Geo workflow at the Kevitsa mine in Finland to improve geological modelling of a complex sulphide deposit. The challenge was to combine large amounts of historic drilling, core logging, and field geochemical data into a more reliable 3D model for better targeting and decision making.

Seequent’s ioGAS Link integration between REFLEX ioGAS, an Olympus pXRF analyzer, and Leapfrog Geo let geologists rapidly calibrate, classify, and visualize lithogeochemical data directly in the model. The solution enabled 3D reinterpretation in just 10 days, helped identify previously missed thin mineralized units, reduced dependence on lab turnaround times, and improved confidence in exploration targeting and future drill planning.
