How Leapfrog Geo helped improve geological understanding at Edna May Gold Mine, Western Australia

Evolution Mining, an Australian gold miner operating the Edna May Gold Mine in Western Australia, faced the challenge of improving geological understanding in a complex orebody where poor continuity and structural uncertainty had previously affected production performance. To better manage this complexity, the company introduced Seequent’s Leapfrog Geo to replace older, more manual geological modelling methods and support both resource estimation and grade control.

Seequent implemented Leapfrog Geo to create a more detailed, dynamic geological model that could be rapidly updated using grade control data and integrated with Evolution Mining’s database and Surpac workflow. The result was a more accurate representation of the deposit, including a major increase in modelled dykes and quartz reefs, faster GC block model updates, improved ore selection and reconciliation, and a reduction in data processing time by about one third compared with previous methods.
