A Seequent Case Study
Advisian, the independent consulting arm of the WorleyParsons Group, needed a user-friendly way to estimate potash brine resources for Kalium Lakes’ Beyondie Sulphate of Potash Project in Western Australia. With changes to global brine reporting guidelines, hydrogeologists were increasingly responsible for resource estimation, and Advisian needed a solution that would help a hydrogeologist produce a compliant estimate to JORC (2012) and NI43-101 standards. Seequent’s Leapfrog Edge was used for the work.
Seequent’s Leapfrog Edge enabled Advisian to build and visualize the brine block model, calculate brine volumes and contained potassium and sulphate, and then integrate the model into a hydrogeological simulation for mine planning and ore reserve estimation. The solution improved speed, transparency, and confidence in the estimate, reduced the need for extra data transfers between systems, and helped Advisian update models dynamically as new data became available. Advisian also reported that the software saved time, eased learning, and helped present QA/QC and resource methodology more clearly for robust, defendable reporting.
