3D modelling helps district in Nebraska get a better handle on water quality

Aqua Geo Frameworks worked with Seequent to help the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District in Nebraska better understand groundwater availability and nitrate contamination risks. The district needed a clearer picture of local hydrogeology, aquifer characteristics, and recharge conditions across an area influenced by the Platte River.

Using Seequent’s Geosoft tools, Aqua Geo Frameworks integrated airborne electromagnetic (AEM) survey results, borehole records, geologic maps, and historical lithology data to build 3D voxel models and maps of the subsurface. Seequent’s software supported QA/QC, data management, interpretation, and conversion to GIS-ready formats, helping the district classify aquifers, map key geologic contacts, and improve its understanding of underground water flow and well function.
