Using Seeq Corporation’s analytics tools with data from OSIsoft PI, engineers performed calculations on crystallization and filtration data, including an estimated heat of crystallization integral, to identify a polymorph change in the deviated batch. The investigation time dropped from three full days to four hours, a 6X improvement, and the company was able to adjust the process to more consistently produce the desired polymorph and reduce the risk of future deviations.
