A Seeq Corporation Case Study
Municipal Water Utility, a municipal water district serving a major American metro area, needed a better way to monitor sand filter performance, manage backwash cycles, and meet quality, regulatory, and yield goals. The utility had been relying on a complex spreadsheet process to track filter behavior, but seasonal operating changes, uneven performance, and infrequent updates made it hard to spot problems before they affected water treatment efficiency or required costly media replacement. Seeq Corporation’s software was used to address these monitoring and reporting challenges.
Using Seeq, engineers created an analysis of filter performance that contextualized operating modes, calculated metrics like UFRV, compared backwash cycles across filters, and automated daily and monthly dashboards and compliance reports. The solution helped the municipality identify underperforming filters sooner, optimize backwash timing, improve production-to-backwash ratios, and reduce reporting effort from 20 hours per month to less than one hour. Seeq Corporation also enabled faster, real-time application of best practices to support better quality and more consistent filter operation.
