Metals and Mining Industry - Customer Case Study

Metals and Mining Industry partnered with Seeq Corporation to address the difficulty of predicting when conveyor belts would lose tension and fail. With a large network of belts and frequent failures, the company needed a better way to move beyond costly weekly maintenance and reduce the risk of unplanned stoppages. Seeq’s advanced analytics software was used to model belt tension behavior and identify when maintenance would be needed.

Seeq Corporation implemented predictive models using historical tension data, failure modes, and asset hierarchy data, then scaled the analysis across the full fleet with Treemaps and Seeq Workbench/Data Lab. The solution enabled condition-based maintenance, early warning of impending failures, and more proactive operations. As a result, the mining company was projected to save up to $1 million annually in lost-opportunity costs plus $100,000 per year in scheduled and break-in maintenance, while also improving throughput.
