A Seeq Corporation Case Study
The Global Mining Company, a major global mining operation, faced a significant challenge in maintaining its fleet of expensive haul trucks. Traditional calendar-based maintenance was costly and inefficient, leading to both unnecessary servicing and unexpected breakdowns. The company needed a way to implement condition-based monitoring to predict engine issues, but the task was complicated by varying telemetry data across hundreds of trucks, making it difficult to scale any solution effectively.
Seeq provided a solution by enabling the mining engineers to analyze truck telemetry, such as travel time, gear selection, and engine load, to identify vehicles needing maintenance. This analysis was scaled across the entire fleet and visualized in a Treemap for a clear, fleet-wide view. As a result, the company can now perform maintenance only when needed, preventing failures. This approach saves approximately $100,000 per avoided breakdown and has led to major savings in engineer and mechanic time.
