Avangrid Renewables, a subsidiary of AVANGRID, Inc., needed a better way to investigate large volumes of wind turbine, weather, market, and operational data to accurately document curtailed generation and avoid lost revenue. Prior to this project, the company struggled to determine the financial impact of curtailment events because analyzing years of turbine data in Excel and other tools was too difficult and time consuming.

Seeq Corporation provided data investigation and discovery software that worked with Avangrid Renewables’ existing systems, including OSIsoft PI, SAP, SCADA, and SQL databases. Using Seeq, the company was able to isolate curtailment events, add analytics and pricing, and calculate lost generation and revenue impacts in hours instead of days or weeks. Avangrid Renewables estimated the solution could save between $30,000 and $100,000 per year, while also reducing investigation time from months or years to hours.
