How the BBC Captures UGC Nationwide to Share Truly Personal Stories

BBC wanted to find a better way to capture authentic user-generated content from real people across the UK and beyond, but faced the common challenge of getting people to actually contribute footage. The BBC tested Seenit, a user-generated content storytelling platform, to explore how audience videos could be used to tell more personal, compelling stories for broadcast and social media.

Using Seenit, BBC created a more collaborative process with contributors through direct and broadcast messaging, guidance, and filming tips that improved both participation and footage quality. The results included 1,500+ creators, 11,000+ pieces of content captured, and 50+ uploads from more than 50 countries, including over 1,000 pieces of footage from BBC Three’s One Hot Summer project.
