Suntory Achieves 32% Improvement in Supplier Sustainability with Sedex Platform

Suntory, a global leader in the beverage industry, faced the challenge of managing sustainability and responsible sourcing across a complex, multinational supplier network. To centralise sustainability data, assess risks and drive supplier improvement, Suntory adopted the Sedex platform—using Sedex’s data management, Self‑Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) and Management Controls scoring to monitor and manage performance across sites.

By implementing Sedex, Suntory integrated sustainability data into daily operations, used SAQ and Management Controls to target interventions, engaged suppliers in a Plan‑Do‑Check‑Act cycle and developed alternative audit approaches where needed. The Sedex platform helped deliver measurable impact — a 32% improvement in Management Controls scores across supplier sites — while improving risk management, streamlining reporting and earning industry recognition including a Sedex Sustainability Award.
