Case Study: Omarsa enhances sustainable shrimp supply chain management and market access with Sedex

A Sedex Case Study

Preview of the Omarsa Case Study

Sedex improves the way Omarsa manage their sustainable supply chain

Omarsa, one of Ecuador’s top three shrimp exporters with over 30 years in farming, processing and shipping vannamei shrimp to Europe, the US, Canada and South America, needed a faster, more reliable way to manage its sustainable supply chain and share ethical and social responsibility information with customers. To address this, Omarsa joined Sedex as a member and adopted Sedex tools including the self-assessment questionnaire (SAQ) and SMETA audit methodology to demonstrate compliance with legal and ethical requirements.

Sedex provided Omarsa with access to a centralized, trusted database and a verification pathway (SAQ + SMETA) that improved transparency and credibility. As a result, Omarsa reported faster negotiations, expanded customer networks, guaranteed access to new markets, and increased prestige and reliability with commercial partners — outcomes Omarsa attributes directly to its Sedex membership.
