Ningbo Sureway Bags, a China-based supplier of ladies’ handbags to retailers including Monsoon Accessorize, Next, Carrefour, New Look, Lindex and Kmart, wanted to raise ethical and sustainability standards, improve product quality and better communicate with customers about market needs. To support this, they joined Sedex and adopted the Sedex Advance system, using the Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) to identify improvement areas and demonstrate compliance.

Using Sedex’s tools (Sedex Advance, the SAQ and the Member Directory), Ningbo Sureway Bags completed their SAQ 100%, reduced non-compliances and broadened buyer connections; Sedex membership helped grow their customer base by 41% (2014–2017), achieve a 92% average customer satisfaction score in 2017, more than double turnover from USD 4M (2010) to USD 10.63M (2013), expand to around 360 workers, and secure multiple industry awards.
