How Little Freddie is using Sedex to support pineapple farmers in Madagascar

Little Freddie, a premium organic baby food brand, faced the challenge of ensuring its suppliers were reputable and shared its values on worker welfare and good working conditions. To address this, they partnered with the vendor Sedex in 2018, using its risk assessment tool, Sedex Radar, to identify and manage risks within its global supply chain.

Using data from the Sedex platform, Little Freddie identified its Madagascan pineapple supplier, HavaMad, as high-risk and initiated a three-year support project. The Sedex-enabled solution involved training over 120 farmers in sustainable agricultural practices. This led to the potential for a massive yield increase from 3 tonnes-per-hectare to over 60T/ha, aiming to generate additional income for farmers while maintaining organic principles.
