A Sedex Case Study

Preview of the Co-op Case Study

How Co-op is using Sedex as part of their ethical trade programme to increase supply chain transparency

Co-op, the UK retailer, wanted to strengthen ethical trade and improve transparency across a large, complex, and growing global supply chain while reducing audit fatigue for suppliers. To support this, Co-op turned to Sedex and its SMETA audit ecosystem, using Sedex as a central platform for supply chain data, risk visibility, and collaboration.

Sedex helped Co-op map its supply chain, access more than 1,000 independent audits, and use Radar risk assessment data to prioritize country, sector, and site-level risks. The result was better transparency across 2,480 supplier sites and over 650,000 workers, with 1,711 sites beyond first tier, plus more than 5,000 improvement actions driven across the supply chain. Sedex also enabled monthly KPI reporting and better internal and supplier engagement to support Co-op’s ethical trade goals.
