A SecurityScorecard Case Study
The University of Gloucestershire, a four‑campus UK university of 9,000 students and 1,000 staff, struggled to maintain consistent security across diverse schools and many third‑party vendors with a one‑person SecOps team. Relying on annual pen tests, manual questionnaires and internal scans left gaps in real‑time visibility and made it hard to enforce vendor controls or satisfy cyber insurance evidence requirements, so the university evaluated several providers and purchased SecurityScorecard’s continuous monitoring platform and Ratings service.
SecurityScorecard implemented continuous external monitoring, automated alerts, third‑party risk management workflows, vendor invitations and executive reporting, giving The University of Gloucestershire a common risk language and actionable remediation plans. As a result, the university raised its overall SecurityScorecard rating from 76 to 91, sped up remediation and reporting, reduced time and cost for assessments, improved vendor accountability, and produced the evidence needed for cyber insurance and board‑level reporting.
