SecurityScorecard Helps Auction Company Prepare for Information Security Incidents

World-Renowned Auction Company, a global auction house with a presence in 46 countries, needed to test its preparedness for cyber incidents—specifically ransomware and data exfiltration scenarios that could disrupt auctions and business continuity. The company engaged SecurityScorecard to run simulated security incident exercises and to evaluate and stress-test its Incident Response Plan (IRP) and ransomware readiness.

SecurityScorecard ran tabletop and simulated ransomware exercises, then recommended concrete steps: document essential auction systems and cancellation authorities, implement out‑of‑band communication channels, strengthen security awareness, enforce data classification and ownership, clarify incident vs. breach criteria for regulatory reporting, and create a cost–benefit process for ransom decisions. As a result, SecurityScorecard helped the auction house validate its IRP, close communication and data‑ownership gaps, put in place data‑classification and decision frameworks, and notably improve its business continuity and ransomware readiness.
