Health Insurance Providing Company, a HIPAA-regulated insurer facing rising breach risk and the challenge of managing cybersecurity across many affiliates with limited resources, needed a scalable way to assess and communicate security posture. To tackle cumbersome affiliate onboarding and inconsistent security practices, the company adopted SecurityScorecard’s platform for continuous monitoring, reporting, and independent security ratings.

Using SecurityScorecard, the company set baselines, prioritized affiliates scoring “D” and “F,” and rolled out weekly portfolio reports and transparency-driven remediation efforts. Over a little more than a year, affiliates’ security scores improved, the company reported nearly two months without low scores, onboarding and vendor integrations became more streamlined, and SecurityScorecard reports were used externally (RFPs/customers) and internally to educate stakeholders and accelerate risk mitigation.
