A Secureworks Case Study

Preview of the Eastern Maine Electric Cooperative Case Study

Eastern Maine Electric Cooperative protects member and company data, provides PCI-compliant online transactions and receives great value with Dell SecureWorks

Eastern Maine Electric Cooperative (EMEC), a 35‑employee nonprofit serving 12,600 homes and businesses across a 3,000‑square‑mile rural territory, needed enterprise‑grade security to offer PCI‑compliant online bill payments while working with a tight budget and limited IT staff. EMEC selected SecureWorks and deployed the Dell SecureWorks iSensor Managed IPS to meet its intrusion‑prevention and compliance requirements.

SecureWorks delivered 24x7 managed IPS monitoring and real‑time threat blocking across EMEC’s network and three buildings, enabling PCI‑compliant online transactions, faster reporting via the SecureWorks client portal, and reduced operational burden on EMEC’s small IT team. The SecureWorks service also provided prompt incident response (including a nighttime outage alert), easy reconfiguration for bandwidth upgrades, and reliable protection that let EMEC safely offer online payments to its 12,600 members while keeping costs and staff effort low.
