Case Study: Fort Mill School District achieves enhanced cybersecurity and improved incident response with Secureworks

A Secureworks Case Study

Preview of the Fort Mill School District Case Study

A fast growing K-12 district scores top grades with added security from Secureworks

Fort Mill Schools, a South Carolina K–12 district serving about 17,000 students and 2,300 employees, experienced a four-day denial-of-service attack that exposed gaps in incident response and monitoring despite layered defenses. Seeking stronger protection and faster incident handling, Fort Mill Schools engaged Secureworks and its Incident Management Retainer and Managed Vulnerability Scanning services.

Secureworks performed incident-readiness activities, reviewed logging and monitoring, ran 24x7 network and vulnerability scanning, and supported tabletop exercises to strengthen the district’s plan. As a result Secureworks helped Fort Mill identify and remediate hidden vulnerabilities, improve threat visibility (detecting activity from Brazil, Russia, Eastern Europe and Asia plus weekly phishing and ransomware attempts), and boost staff confidence while better protecting student, teacher and staff data.
