Implementing Eduroam At Top University

A prestigious university struggled with configuring Android devices for its Wi-Fi network and needed to manually reconfigure every student and staff device to implement the secure eduroam standard, which created a poor user experience and a significant security risk from credential theft. The university, Top University, turned to vendor SecureW2 and its solution for device onboarding and public key infrastructure (PKI) to address this challenge.

SecureW2 implemented its EAP-TLS certificate-based authentication solution, which included its PKI and Managed Device Gateways for automatic enrollment. This provided a plug-and-play infrastructure that allowed students and staff to easily self-configure their devices. The results for the university included a successful deployment with 5,600 devices connected over a move-in weekend, the elimination of password-related disconnects, and a major improvement in network security by preventing over-the-air credential theft.
