Houston Methodist Continues “Leading Medicine” with SecureAuth

Houston Methodist, a nonprofit healthcare system in Houston with seven hospitals and 2,000 beds, needed to enable clinicians to access patient records and financial systems remotely while meeting strict HIPAA standards. Previous authentication methods—hard tokens and question‑and‑answer prompts—either burdened staff or proved incompatible with new infrastructure (including a reverse web proxy), limiting the hospital’s ability to adopt mobile and cloud technologies securely.

Working with partner Set Solutions, Houston Methodist deployed SecureAuth IdP for adaptive, two‑factor authentication. The solution integrated quickly with Citrix, VPN, web proxies and SaaS apps, used device fingerprinting and contextual signals (IP, geo, reputation) to reduce prompts, and remembered trusted devices for 90 days. Deployment took days, upgrades cut downtime by ~98%, and the change enabled secure remote access, higher user satisfaction, and faster, safer adoption of new technologies.
