Zurich Cantonal Police modernizes border control for 350 staff with Secunet Security Networks

The Zurich Cantonal Police faced the challenge of modernizing its border control infrastructure at Zurich Airport to meet long-term EU regulations, handle high passenger volumes, and create a more intuitive inspection process. To address this, they commissioned vendor Secunet Security Networks as the general contractor for the "Greko NG" project, which utilized the secunet biomiddle product.

Secunet implemented a new, modular border control system built around its biomiddle software, which acts as the central interface between hardware and background systems. The solution included a newly developed, ergonomic border control application that provides officers with all critical data. This resulted in a highly available system with short technical process times that effectively combats illegal migration without increasing passenger wait times. The Zurich Cantonal Police also reported that the modern system interface motivates its staff and is prepared for future Schengen projects.
