The customer, Gelsenwasser AG, is a utility company providing water and energy supply services. Their challenge was implementing a group-wide Information Security Management System (ISMS) to meet various industry-specific security standards and regulatory requirements. Vendor Secunet Security Networks provided support and consulting services for this implementation.

Secunet supported Gelsenwasser AG and its subsidiaries in introducing an ISMS according to ISO/IEC 27001:2013 and successfully guided them through initial certification audits. The solution also addressed specific standards like the BNetzA IT security catalogue for energy networks. As a result, multiple entities within the group were successfully certified, and the ISMS was continuously optimized, leading to a successful recertification by GUTcert in April 2021.
