Company-Wide Desktop MFA as a Stepping Stone to Full Passwordless

Standard Chartered Bank, a global financial services firm with about 90,000 employees across 59+ countries, needed to roll out desktop multifactor authentication for every end user to protect sensitive endpoint data and support a long-term move to passwordless while meeting complex enterprise constraints (Windows and Mac support, ForgeRock and Oracle Unified Directory integration, non-phone authentication, and fewer authentication “hops”). After evaluating options, the bank selected Secret Double Octopus to meet these requirements.

Secret Double Octopus deployed its Octopus Pro desktop MFA to more than 80% of Standard Chartered’s workforce (targeting 100% in 2022), delivering MFA passthrough to reduce authentication hops (moving users off TOTP to mobile push), integration with ForgeRock and Oracle Unified Directory, and support for FIDO keys, biometrics and non-phone authenticators. The rollout strengthened endpoint security, improved user experience and operational scalability, and set the bank on a clear path toward full passwordless with Secret Double Octopus’ Octopus Enterprise.
