Xavier University Boosts Students’ Selling Skills with Second Nature

Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA), a historically Black university in New Orleans, runs a selling skills course that prepares students for complex B2B sales conversations and external competitions. The school needed a better way for students to practice because peer partners were not always available or knowledgeable, feedback from the professor was delayed, and many students felt nervous about practicing in public.

To address this, Xavier University of Louisiana implemented Second Nature’s AI-powered sales training platform, using its virtual trainer Jenny to let students practice anytime in a private, low-pressure environment and receive instant, objective feedback. The results were strong: over two-thirds of students said they practiced more and that Jenny made them more effective, 85% found the feedback valuable, and every student in the 2022 external sales competition reached the semifinal round for the first time. The professor also saved significant time previously spent reviewing recordings.
