Lefort SA is a Belgian manufacturer of presses, shears, and crushers for the metal waste recycling industry, exporting most of its machines worldwide. The company needed a way to remotely program its RS232-connected IFM Ecomat mobile PLCs without the connection delays that normally make serial communication over mobile Internet links unreliable. Secomea worked with Lefort to address this challenge using its remote access solution and SiteManager hardware gateway.

Secomea adapted the serial protocol logic in the SiteManager 3129 so the IFM controllers could be accessed remotely as if they were connected locally, even over unstable 3G/GPRS links. With the Secomea Access Client and IFM serial software, Lefort’s engineers can now securely program and adjust controllers from anywhere, improving service response time and reducing travel costs while keeping machines operating at peak performance worldwide.
