Kaufland e-commerce automates data governance across over 15K tables

Kaufland, the German retail group behind Kaufland E-Commerce, needed a better way to make data discoverable and govern a rapidly growing data environment. With triple-digit growth in active data users and more than 15,000 tables in BigQuery, the team wanted a data enablement platform to streamline access, discovery, and reuse of data across the organization. They turned to Secoda to help address this challenge.

Using Secoda, Kaufland E-Commerce automated data governance by organizing tables into Collections, embedding documentation into table-creation workflows, and using the Secoda API to keep metadata and ownership aligned at scale. Secoda also supported impact analysis and automated stakeholder notifications through Slack, helping the team prioritize table maintenance, improve collaboration, reduce downtime, and increase data accuracy. The result was a fully governed data stack spanning 15,000 tables, with better transparency and more trustworthy data for teams across the business.
