Texas Christian University Transforms Website Search to Provide a Unified Visitor Experience

Texas Christian University (TCU), a private R2 university, needed a better website search experience to serve multiple audiences across a large, complex site with more than 50,000 pages and hundreds of content publishers. With rising student expectations, the enrollment cliff, and the need to manage distributed content across many departments, TCU wanted a way to improve content discovery, reduce confusion, and surface the most relevant information at the right time. The university used SearchStax Site Search to help meet those needs.

SearchStax implemented Site Search, along with AI-powered features like Smart Match Assist and Smart Ranking, to improve relevance, reduce no-result searches, and surface critical content more effectively. TCU used search analytics to update synonyms, fix broken or relocated content paths, and identify content gaps for student resources. The results were strong: click-through rate exceeded 55% versus a 35% benchmark, no-result searches fell below 5% of total searches, average click position increased by 37%, and click-through rate improved by 16%.
