Case Study: SHANTI at the University of Virginia achieves rapid, customizable, multi-environment Solr search for Drupal with SearchStax

SHANTI at the University of Virginia needed a scalable, extensible Solr-as-a-Service platform to add advanced search features to their Drupal-based Mandala applications. Their existing Drupal host did not support the latest Solr, custom plugins, multiple environments, multicore collections, or direct access to Solr configuration files, so SHANTI engaged SearchStax and its SearchStax Cloud Manager to provide a fully managed, multi-cloud Solr solution.

SearchStax deployed a highly available SolrCloud cluster in the same region as UVa within a couple of days, front-ended by an elastic load balancer with SSL, enabled instant cloning for QA and production, and provided Gold-level support so SHANTI could push custom plugins and change config files on demand. As a result, SHANTI launched a customized hosted Solr search for Drupal in days, freed developers to focus on application features instead of infrastructure, and gained monitoring, control over metrics, and around-the-clock support to ensure uptime and rapid issue resolution.
