A SearchStax Case Study
Nashville.gov, the City of Nashville’s public website serving 1.9 million residents and 40,000 businesses, needed better site search as part of a major Drupal redesign after users frequently resorted to Google to find city information. Already using SearchStax Managed Solr since 2018, the Nashville team selected SearchStax’s newer SearchStudio to address poor search relevance, lack of analytics, and the need to surface content across several city services and portals.
SearchStax implemented SearchStudio using its Drupal module and UX Accelerator to speed deployment and deliver federated search across five city sites (including legislation, property assessor, COVID info and customer service portals). The solution—launched August 2021—added filters, promotions/keyword matches (100+), and analytics for top searches, no-results queries, click-through rates and average click position. As a result, Nashville.gov now handles over 3,000 searches and 1,000 content views per day with improved relevance and the ability for non‑IT staff to push popular content to the top of results.
