Barratt Homes Gets More Stable Solr Search with SearchStax and Kagool

Barratt Homes, part of Britain’s largest housebuilder Barratt Developments, faced unstable Solr search on its Sitecore-based website after a December 2019 agency change. Kagool’s audit identified search stability and uptime as critical issues, so they engaged SearchStax’s fully managed, SLA-backed Solr service to bring specialist Solr expertise to the project.

SearchStax provisioned and configured three Solr environments (Dev, UAT, Prod), rebuilt indexes, and deployed a 2‑node cluster on Microsoft Azure with a warm disaster‑recovery setup — completing the core work in roughly two weeks within a four‑week engagement. As a result, SearchStax reduced Solr-related P1 support tickets from nearly 60% to zero, delivered higher availability and performance for Barratt Homes’ site, and lowered expected long‑term total cost of ownership.
