BaxterBoo, an online pet-products retailer, struggled with product discovery across a wide assortment and a native platform that lacked merchandising control, making it hard for shoppers to narrow results and for the internal team to manage listings. In 2021 they partnered with Searchspring and deployed Search & Autocomplete and Category Merchandising to improve site search and navigation.

Searchspring implemented synonyms, custom sort and filter options (e.g., breed size, flavor, ingredients), advanced merchandising tools including scheduled campaigns, and integrated ratings display/filtering via Bazaarvoice. As a result, 18% of BaxterBoo’s shoppers who used search drove 44% of site revenue, and search-driven shoppers converted at a rate 2X higher than cross-industry averages.
