SPORT1 is the leading sports platform in German-speaking countries, operating TV, online, mobile and social channels including SPORT1.de and a popular app. Faced with no internal SEO department in 2013, SPORT1 needed to build SEO expertise, integrate SEO into editorial and IT processes, and scale resources across teams to maintain its market lead.
Working with Searchmetrics Professional Services and the Searchmetrics Suite™, SPORT1 brought in interim on-site SEO support, trained editors, and used tools like Visibility Guard, Traffic Forecast and content briefings to prioritize high-potential pages and optimize for AMP and Google News. The effort delivered roughly a 20% increase in SEO traffic profit (2015–2017), a 20% rise in SEO Visibility (Jan–Aug 2017), a lower bounce rate, and expansion of the in-house SEO team.
